GRYPNOS :: Unconscious. Compelled to rest. Held in thrall.

The debut experimental EP from autotectonic, GRYPNOS explores desolation and loneliness in the built environment. The album moves through droning soundscapes to driving, drum-heavy rhythms as it alludes to the spellbinding nature of metropolitan wandering—guiding listeners imperfectly by algorithmic, unknowable superstructures.

Material for this album was created over the spring/summer of 2018, on an Elektron Digitakt and a small Eurorack modular synthesizer. Tracks were rehearsed and performed live in single takes, and recorded to a Zoom H4N field recorder.
